Agency operating guide
Customer data activation without changing agency
The customer-data layer and the media relationship do not need to be owned by the same company. Clear responsibilities matter more than a forced transfer of media ownership.
Separate the capability from the commercial relationship
A client may already have an agency that understands its brand, media plan and performance history. Introducing a customer data platform should strengthen that team’s signal, not automatically replace the relationship.
Fractyl is designed to sit alongside an incumbent agency, several specialist partners or an in-house media team.
Three workable operating models
- Fractyl manages infrastructure, audiences and destinations while the agency owns media strategy and execution.
- The agency licenses Fractyl and operates it for its own clients.
- A shared model divides technical operation, audience strategy, approval and measurement between the relevant teams.
Define ownership before launch
- The client owns lawful collection, permissions, source-system accuracy and final commercial decisions.
- The customer-data operator owns agreed identity logic, audience construction, destination reliability and governed changes.
- The media agency owns campaign configuration, media strategy, budgets, creative and platform execution unless otherwise agreed.
- All parties agree the measurement design and how customer quality returns to media decisions.
Where the efficiency comes from
Scheduled synchronisation replaces repeated spreadsheet hashing and upload work. Shared audience definitions reduce inconsistent exclusions across destinations. Current customer states can flow into media without waiting for the next manual list refresh.
These are operational efficiencies and better inputs. The commercial result still needs to be measured against the client’s use case.
What an agency should ask Fractyl
- Which CRM and cloud connections are already live?
- Which audiences and destinations will the first scope include?
- Who approves changes and owns client communication?
- What training and support come with a licence?
- How will client separation, access and governance work?
- What evidence will show the capability is creating value?
